You're right - it has been discussed extensively in the Tires forum. The reason you can't see it is that your membership has expired. If you want to read it all, you need to become a sponsor. Considering the cost of new tires, new rims, mounting and balancing - plus the cost of a lift kit and the means of dealing with the spare tire carrier, you might find the $12 sponsor cost worthwhile.

Meanwhile, I'll say that I am having great luck with my 15" Goodyear Marathons in a P225 size. They have a lot of additional weight-carrying capacity above that of the 14" Marathons. Other brands, as well as the clearance issue, are discussed in great detail in the Tires forum. In addition, some folks have uncovered some 14" tires that seem to be working out well.
