I can only get about 400 pounds in my 98 3023 before reaching the weight ratings on the tires. I have the roof AC, spare tire and awning as extras. With those it has 3250 pounds on the tires. I do not travel with water in the fresh water tank but with the toilet charged. Am I looking at something wrong?

Frenchy,

When you say your tires are carrying 3250 lbs, is that the load minus the tongue weight? Or, is that the total weight of the trailer? If that's the load on the tires minus the tongue weight, then the trailer weight is maybe 3650 lbs or more. If, in fact, you meant 3250 lbs is the total trailer weight, then the tire loud, with the tongue supported, is more like 2850 lbs +- a few lbs.

Assuming the latter, then the total weight of the trailer could be 3900 lbs, with 3500 lbs (axle limit) on the tires. If the tongue weight were 500 lbs, then 4000 lbs trailer weight is w/in limits when no WDH is used.

If a WDH is used, then approx 1/3 of the tongue wt is transferred back to the axle/tires. Lots of stuff to consider. So if the tongue wt were 480 lbs(WDH in use), and the trailer weighed 3820 lbs, 360 lbs is carried by the hitch and 3500 lbs by the axle/tires.

As I said, I'm not sure whether you meant total trailer wt of 3250 lbs, or tire load with the tongue supported. The above was for the purpose of summarizing a just a few of the many variables to be considered.
