Sorry to be in the solar threads but I didn't know where to ask this.

Anyone have a small wind turbine? I would like to use a marine size turbine - perhaps 4 feet diameter to keep the batteries topped off when dry camping. I'm in the high desert of CA and the wind is always blowing. I'm having trouble finding small turbine or a kit. THX

4 feet in diameter seems pretty large to mount on the TM somewhere. I seem to recall seeing smaller turbines on boats. Have you checked any marine retailers? Anything marine is going to be pricey, but I don't know of any other market that would have small ones available.

If you are in the desert, you presumably have lots of sun. Why not install some panels?

I have a friend who bought one similar to that, and then has struggled ever since with how to mount it. He found that the stand sold for this purpose is actually more expensive than the turbine. There is a lot of force on that thing if the wind picks up, as it can here in Colorado.

Actually I bought one of the similar wind generator for my friend before. He built a mount with the metal tubes. Good luck!! You can find one at Costco.com as following
