View Full Version : Report spammer here
In accordance with Dave (Shrimp Burrito)'s very good suggestion, let's use this thread to report new spammers. I'll check it every time I log on, delete the spam and ban the spammer, and then erase the alert post to keep the thread manageable. Sound good?

Sounds like a great idea, but I haven't seen much spam this past week, so something must be working right. Thanks.
MM -
The spam count is down because Chris is working on the front end of the system. And when something does get through, I'm shoveling like mad behind that elephant! I've worked out a pretty good procedure for catching them early.
We both appreciate your comment.

Sorry what rock am I under? I don't know or see spammers. How do they show up. And some folks talk about upgrading? Upgrading what and how.
Thanks.

Probably stepping into Bill's territory, but
Because of the excellent diligence of the Site monitors like Bill, spammers are usually deleted within hours. Essentially they sign in as new trial members to allow them to post, then they post a commercial ad not relating to TM ie cheap cell phones from Asia. I belong to many forums and I can easily say this is the most professionally run one anywhere. Good TM info and discussions and NO SPAM. I believe the comments on upgrading are directed to trial members ( free) who lose some of their access after the trial period. They are encouraged to upgrade to a site sponsor for the $12.00 annual fee. Without the fee, the site would be plagued with ads for all kinds of stuff and be less appealing/ useful.
Thanks for making this the BEST Board out there.

I second that!!
Thanks, guys. Final banned-spammer tally yesterday alone was 16! Wow. Sounds like they have found a way around the Captcha. I've asked Chris to tighten up the filters.

You did REALLY well Bill, I didn't see any of them! Thank you for your continued vigilance.
Apologies to all - one spammer did get through last night, and posted several dopey messages. He is gone now, of course. The spammers have been very active lately, and I've been banning more than one a day for several weeks. Things still look pretty clean, but Chris and I promised you a spam-free experience ...

Hi Bill, this looks suspect. My thread never got much attention so I don't mind if you delete the entire thread.
