I just bought the TM I've been talking about and went on my first camping trip in it, it was GREAT!! I loved it....but b4 we left we call my insurance company to ask about insurance on the TM and they said they didn't cover TTs and we called a few others as well and they didn't cover either. Well my question is does anyone know of a popular insurance company that insures the TM?? ( An insurance company that I've probably seen on tv ) Thank you! :o

We use Foremost. They seem fine but I've never had to file a claim (fortunately!)

Seems odd that your current automobile insurer is not interested in writing an additional policy for the Trailmanor. We have State Farm, and all it took was a phone call to the local agent to get it insured.

We have had State Farm for years. When we hit a bump in the mouth of a driveway and cracked our sewer tank on our 1988 Model 20 TM, State Farm reimbursed us for the repair once the deductible was met. That was because it was considered to be accidental damage. All those premiums paid off for us since it cost $800 for a new sewer tank back then in 1998. smookie

We have State Farm, and have had for years. Our home, 2 vehicles, and every camper we've ever owned have been insured with them.

Try USAA 1-800-531-6095 or USAA.com. Have good rates for trailer with $1000 deductable.

I gave progressive my make and model and told them it was a pop up folding camper and they said "No, we show it as a conventional travel trailer" there wont be any reduction in rates.

We, too, are insured with State Farm for our TM. Just a note to advise, if you aren't aware of this, but there may be advantages to having all your insurance with one carrier. We insure a house, two motorcycles, a sailboat, a truck, a car and our TM. We receive premium reductions for Multiple Line and Multicar. Those discounts are reasonably significant. We also have an umbrella policy with State Farm which, as long as we maintain the required liability coverages (e.g. $100,000/300,000 on the vehicles), covers us up to $1,000,000. We pretty well paid for that policy by dropping my car insurance from the $500,000 single limit I used to carry down to the required $100,000/300,000. The umbrella includes underinsured and uninsured motorist coverage up to that $1,000,000 limit - that is coverage that protects you in the event that you are hit by someone who has no insurance or minimal insurance while you are enroute to a TM Rally. It may be worth your while to examine your coverage and rates with agents for a couple of reputable insurance carriers. You might also check to see if your state has an insurance department website that lists complaint frequency for any carrier you may be considering. - Camp2Canoe

P.S. I am a lawyer, not an insurance salesman!

I not only have State Farm, I have had the same agent since December 1980.

We carry 4 cars, the house, the TM and some life insurance. We get the usual discounts.

A couple of years ago DD cut the apron strings and became truly independent, meaning she has her own insurance policy, completely independent of us. She was delighted to see that she inherited our no claims discount. No other company was willing to offer her that as the starting point (big surprise).

So my daughter has received a discount for us staying with State Farm for all those years (more than 5 is the criteria I think) and having very nominal claims filed.

We, too, have State Farm for house, cars and TM. Though we've had few claims over the years, those have been handled quickly and with minimal fuss. We made the mistake (in the 1970s) of switching to Allstate. For one minor incident they raised our rates a lot, and it was a hassle getting the repairs, etc. Needless to say, we switched back to State Farm and have been with them ever since -- we are very pleased with both rates and service.

In Washington we have a company called Mutual of Enumclaw. They supply all our insurance except health (Tricare) & Life (OPM) We also have a 1 Million umbrella with them and it costs less than any other insurance we have ever been offered. The next cheapest is through AARP, but it still was considerably higher. The only claim we've ever had was handled with one call - we never even heard anything after that - it was all handled. They even replaced a windshield on our son's car which he had just bought! By having all our insurance in the same spot we get discounts on the cars, the TM, the house and the umbrella. We're very happy with this company. With discounts, the TM costs us $36 a year for full replacement cost!

We too have State Farm. I think we get a good rate because we have our van and two houses covered too. $35 per month is $100 deductable and includes road towing too. Rate is for coverage of a new unit when purchased ($24,000)
Have had same agent for last 25 years.

My current insurance, Amica will insure the trailmanor, but they don't compare with
coverages you get with RV only companies.

I do not know where you live but, we live in Columbus, Ohio and have Grange insurance and they offer coverage for TT. Currently we have a pop-up (waiting on a deal for a TM) and they cover us for $70 a year.
Good luck.

you people who are getting quotes from progressive, and getting the $500.00 quotes, they think you have a full size upright trailer instead of a folding one. i had the same problem untill they recalled them . the premium went from $500.00 plus down to $243.00.recheck and you will be shocked.

Do they know you have a hard sided folding trailer? When I hear "folding trailer", I think conventional pop-up; they may too. Maybe you're not getting the coverage you think you're getting.

Agreed. A TM costs more than many conventional trailers, so you would expect the insurance coverage to cost more. Your quote (and your policy) should contain a dollar value for the trailer.

the insurance co. dont care if its soft or hard sided, only that your pulling a folded camper instead of a full size upright camper.and total replacement cost.i carried $38,000 on my 3326, 2007 with $75.00 ded. decreasing $25.00/year without a claim.when my agent called back to see how they had it listed, they said travel trailer and he said that it folded down for towing at 26feet,they said that made the differance in rate of $243.00 instead of $568.00.the rate was based on total replacement cost w libility and comp. it also includes road side service.

Good deal. Perhaps more of us should be checking into Progressive.

My coverage is with State Farm from whom I have the multiple line discount and umbrella coverage. I pay $107 a year with $2,000 deductible on physical damage. - camp2canoe

sounds like you have a problem. if you have a claim STATE FARM will raise your car and trailer rates and still have to put out $2000.00 ded.

Yeah - the deductible is high but it is high by choice to keep the premium down. Any deductible is just basically self insurance to that limit and as a personal injury attorney for 30+ years, I generally reccomend high deductibles to my clients. Ordinarily a carrier rates claims as "chargeable" or "non-chargable" - in other words whether the claim is arguably the insured's fault or not. Generally a reputable carrier will not raise rates for an isolated non-chargeable claim. I think that in the 19 years we've been insured with SF we've reported one collision claim. In that instance the other driver ran a stop sign directly in front of us and my rate did not change. If you have a questionable record the carrier is far more likely to raise rates. - camp2canoe

WE have ours through AARP for cars and the TM. Can't tell you how much it saves but it is significant. Don't know how old you are or if you are AARP members but for us, the car and TM insurance are well worth the paltry membership fee.
