Can anyone suggest a book or website that lists great suggestions for camping by city, state, or part of the country?

I'm trying to find great state parks, national parks, corps of engineers parks, and other places in the midwest/southeast within a day's drive of Nashville. I know there have to be some hidden "gems" out there, but I can't seem to find a good source for suggestions.

Thanks!

Try http://www.tldirectory.com/index.cfm or buy the book - Trailer Life Directory- it lists just about every campground there is - including a lot in Canada and Mexico!

You can also go to www.woodalls.com. If you register with them, you can find listings for campgrounds all over the country. Some of the listings also have links to that campgrounds website. Hope this helps.

The first place I would check would be with your friends. If you want to check other places try

http://www.nps.gov/

Good luck & have fun.

I think yall should look at Arkansas. One day drive away from yall is Village Creek State Park. You and your family will like it just fine. Look it up under Arkansas State Parks. We staied there last October. Modern sites. Lake and lots of room. Other state parks are just as good. If you disagree I would be shocked. Your State Parks are great also.

You might want to check with the Corps Of Engineers. They have an inexpensive book on ALL Corps Camping. If you are 62 years old or older you can purchase a Golden Age Passport for a one time cost of $10. Then you can camp at:Corps Of Engineers, Bureau Of Land Management, Fish & Wildlife Sevices, Bureau Of Reclamation, National Park Service, Forrest Service, Tennessee Valley Authority for 50% off your camping fees.:)

I have purchased a couple of the CDs from this site, http://www.forestcamping.com
The information seems to be very good and covers the type of information you would need before choosing were to stop.
