My 18 year old son gave me this recipe this week during vacation and they are really good. So if you like onions here is the recipe:

Blooming Onion

1 large onion (take off outer skin)
garlic powder
season salt
butter or margarine
aluminum foil
Pam cooking spray

Lay out 2 large pieces of aluminum foil and make and X with them. Spray with Pam so stuff won't stick. Now cut the onion 3/4 of the way thru in long slices down toward the root of the onion. You don't want the onion to fall apart. Cut long slices both ways # the top will look like this when done #. Place on foil and put butter in the cuts of onion. Sprinkle a generous amount of season salt and garlic powder all over the onion making sure you get it down in the cuts. Seal up the onion in the alumium foil with the ends sticking up so you can grab it out of the coals with hotpads. Cook for about 30 minutes or till you can smell it really good. You want the onion soft. Open the aluminum foil and dig in. It makes a great snack.

sounds like a great recipe.. healthier than those battered blooming onions - that contain about 70grams of fat!

thanks for sharing
