Every year at this time, we make plans to camp in the TM at the beach nearby Galveston for the Lone Star Rally. 4 day Motorcycle rally with hundreds of thousands of riders and attendees. Takes over the entire Island.

This year we used San Luis Pass park on the far west end of the island. Weather was beautiful, temperate climate for riding and just far enough away from the rally to be isolated but close enough.... This park is mainly used for fishing due to the cut in the island that connects the Intercoastal Waterway and the ocean. Flounder, Speckled Trout and Crab are plentiful. Lots of "snow birds" here for the winter in their RV's.

All very nice! Love to try taking ours to Texas again. We purchased it used in Dallas. Now, that was fun driving back to Northern California not really knowing much about it but had only minor glitches.

Enjoy. They do tow pretty well. You dont really have to worry about it too much.
I do a walk around at every gas stop and feel the tires for excessive heat.

We are headed to Florida next weekend on the 21st for 10 days or so. We hope the weather cooperates for us.

Nice pictures. I wasn't aware of this park. When I googled it, I got a San Luis County Park which is over the bridge from Galveston Island. Is that the one you stayed at? Looks like it would be nice for a weekend getaway from the city.

Thanks,

Yes Bill that's the park. It's a County Park. Best used by campers that enjoy fishing. We saw flounder, trout, and a good deal of crabbing being caught. There is a boat launch, full hook ups, cabins, and a very relaxing style of camping. We come down 288 through Angleton and then 337 to Surfside. Bluewater Highway has been repaved and is a beautiful road to arrive at the campground. Good eats in Surfside at the popular Purple Cow.

Thanks for the info. Will have to check it out next time we're down at the coast.

Nice photos, RV! Doesn't the Royal Enfield get jealous when she has to stay home? :)

Yes she does Dave. The thing is, it's a solo seat set up and when we go camping with the RV, the DW and I love to ride together. She does not ride a MC so we ride 2 up. My plan to change that is hopefully by next summer, I add a side car rig to the Bullet and then we can really go...

Something along these lines...
