we made our first ever trip in the tm, and our first ever camping experience. since we live on 100 acres of gently rolling landscape with a 3 acre pond, wooded areas and a stream we did not get the tm to go camping, we can do that here. but we did get it to stay at the grounds of dog field trials we attend.

we drove to michigan on fri 10/3 and arrived at 8 pm in a driving rain, in the dark. we had help in backing into the spot to plug in. we enjoyed sleeping in the tm, and there was plenty of room for our 2 weims. holly opted to sleep with me on the pull out front couch (2720sl) and hunter decided to sleep on his mat on the floor.

we left there sun 10/5 on our way to raymond, nebraska. we stayed overnight at gibson's rv camp in illinois just east of the quad cities. again we arrived in the dark but had no problems opening up the tm.

left monday morning and arrived at the field trial grounds while it was still light out. this venue was part of branched oak st park. the trial grounds were a little crowded, but we knew all our neighbors.

we did some cooking, had a little pot luck lunch with some friends. there was a clubhouse there and a couple catered the breakfast and lunch and we took advantage of that.

the clubhouse had running water but the toilet facilities were old fashioned outhouses. not too bad, except for that possum that fell in and kept biting everyone in the *ss.

the night of the banquet, which was held off the grounds, we put 2 dog crates in the tm for our dogs to stay in, since we used our tv, to drive there with another couple.

we left there sun 10/12 and spent the night at crooked creek campground just outside of columbia, mo. since we knew we would be getting there about 9 we opted to have dinner at a truck stop. even though we arrived at the rv park in the dark we still were able to open up the tm.

towing was fine, if the traffic allowed we did get up to 70 mph at times and it was smooth sailing. we did spot two tms on I-70 heading west in mo on mon 10/13.

to be continued

since we are using our tm to camp out at field trials, we will probably only stay at campgrounds when our trips are overnight. so i have come up with the top 10 reasons why it's better to stay at a campground in a tm rather than stay at a motel.

10. it's cheaper. we once spent $109 a night at a motel in wisconsin, in a resort town, off season.

9. it's quieter - no reefer trucks running all night long outside your motel room.

8. you don't have to contend with a breakfast of mini muffins and a 4 oz cup of slightly warmed "hot tea".

7. no surprises with accommodations - like when you request a ground floor room and are given a room on the third floor and you have to make several trips to get your luggage, your dog and his kennel in an elevator the size of a closet.

6. no screaming kids or wild parties. no kids running up and down the halls and bouncing around in the room above you.

5. the scenery - looking out at a tree covered area and espying geese and ducks on the lake sure beat looking out your motel room at the local traffic.

4. peaceful. you don't have to spend the first 1 1/2 hours in your room trying to stop your dogs from sniffing all new smells and trying to eat all the crap the house keepers never vaccuumed up.

3. you don't have to wonder who slept in your bed the night before.

2. you don't have to go through three doors to take your dogs out only to find your key card won't let you back in.

and the #1 advantage to a tm over a motel room - you don't have to worry if you've left anything behind since you take the room home with you.

Sounds like your first trip was a sucessful one. Also sounds like your property is one that you get a lot of friends and relatives stay for short vacations. Just think, you now have a place for them to stay when they show up (your TM). Looking forward to part Two.

PS Please send directions to your property, Always looking for good fishing spots ;D. (Just kidding, of course)

colorado cop, you're welcome to fish our pond anytime, we have bass, catfish and crappie. don't know how good the fishing is, since (sad to say :() we've never fished it. others have, and they always catch something.

Thanks, I may send you a private message to find out where you are located. With all the lakes drying up in Colorado, I haven't even bought a license in 2 years. Pretty discouraging with the drought that we are currently in. (4th Year)
