We're happy to announce that we have found our TM! This morning we put down a deposit on a 2002 2720SL in Minnesota. We'll travel up there on Labor Day Weekend to close the deal and take possession.

That is great! We just found ours just over a week ago and are going on our first trip tomorrow. May yours and ours be as much fun as all theirs!

we just picked up our 2720 sl yesterday (it was touch
and go for a while re: the hitch). we made a quick
stop at our local uhaul to get the hitch for the tv and
then on to illinois. bright and early saturday morning
we drove there in our honda odyssey. we had our
dog, hunter, with us and left him in an office in the a/c
bldg in his travel crate.

then ken and crew took to attaching the hitch to our
honda. went over the details of the tm (hoses, etc).
and by 12:45 pm we were on our way home.

tom drove for about a half hour and then we stopped
to buy lunch. this took some rethinking as we needed
to go somewhere with big rig parking. remember, we
are new to this whole thing. we got some sandwiches
and tom continued on to the next stop - a rest stop,
i know those have big parking spots. we ate our
lunch and then the moment arrived - when eileen
takes over driving.

the biggest problem i had was not having the rear view
mirror available (anyone ever use those remote
camera viewing thingies?). one part of the road narrowed because of construction and i negotiated
it without any trouble. one more stop to switch and
we got home. tom had to drive over 2 bridges that were built in the 1800's and he was going so fast. i told him to slow down, and he said he just wanted to get off that thing. having to go a little slower than 70 mph added only 1/2 hour to the trip.

now today we are going to fill up the van and see what the gas mileage is. yesterday, on the way up, doing 70
with the a/c on we got 27 mpg. coming back we did
60, also with the a/c. the heat finally returned to kentucky.

tom is thrilled to pieces about all the running lights on
the tm. so today it's read the manual, go over that
excellent check list that was posted, take pictures of the hitch assembly (for future reference) and set up the tm. our first real trip will be in about 4 weeks up to
northern ohio (beach city).

btw we spotted a tm on the way home.

Eileen and Tom,

A good beginning. It does get better as you gain in confidence, but I know exactly the sentiment - get me off this road and back in my own safe driveway before something bad happens!

fj and ellen

thanks for the words of encouragement. i am sure the minor negatives will be far outweighed by all the positives. i belong to an online group of fellow weimaraner owners. one of the women i know said she was GREEN with envy. i gave her the link to this group and told her i had seen used ones in her state of florida for sale.
