Default Passport Book VS Passport Card

Thinking About Going To The Big Trailblazer Meet In Niagra Falls Next Year. Would Like To Be Able To Go Over To The Canada Side.
I Have Never Been A Go Out Of The Country Type Person So I'm A Little Confused.

I See There Is A Passport Card (looks like a license) And The Passport Book (multi page booklet). Will The Passport Card Work To Get Me In And Out Of Canada And To Possibly Go On A Cruise Also??

It Seems You Only Need The Book If You Are Flying In And Out Of The Country. By Ship / Walk / Vehicle The Id Card Works Instead??

Thanks For Your Input

Jeff

The card works fine for Canada, that is what we used last year. It is supposed to work for Mexico. Just about any where else you need the book. Check out the above posted link. Something to think about, if your in Canada and have a family emergency you will not be able to fly out. If we had it to do over again we would get both.

A matter of convenience, the card fits your wallet, the book doesn't. You need the book only for flying and the price of both isn't much compared to the individual prices. For crossing from Canada to the US or Mexico to the US the card is just swiped in a reader.
