Default License Plate Holder Screws

Does anyone know what size screw and nut the plate holder needs?

We used standard license plate screws and nuts, except the screws are stainless and the nuts are nylon. I do have the nut on the outside so the end of the screw does not rattle on the shell. You might want to use a bolt and nut so in the future you can grab the back with a wrench.

Doesn't really matter as long as the threaded part is small enough to fit through the slots, and the head is big enough that it doesn't slip through the slots, and the length is short enough that it doesn't hit the wall of the TM behind the holder. I would think #10 or 1/4" or 5/16" diameter would be fine, probably 3/4" or 1" length. Be sure to use flat washers under the nuts.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm now thinking "well, duh, I should have known that!"

I built out a stud so I could easily remove the nylock to remove the plate in the future. Basically a bolt on the back side of frame, then flat washer, lock washer and nut on the plate side tightened tight, making a stud. Then you can put the plate on and off easily without needing a wrench on the backside bolt. I think the hardware was 3/8", but like mentioned, anything that fits will do.

Thanks, Kathi, for sharing the way you did it. Sounds good, and I like the idea of being able to remove if I have to.
