Replacing seals on a 2000 3124KS
Hello All,
First post but I've been lurking for a couple of weeks...What a great source of information and help! My wife and I are driving down to ABQ right now to check out a 2000 3124KS at a dealership. https://www.rvtrader.com/dealers/Chi...24KS-120602694
They are going to have their mechanic go through all the major appliances, brakes, plumbing, etc. but the seals are pretty bad, especially around the door. Pics attached. The dealership says they can't order seals for a trailer this old and they don't want to mess with trying to figure out how to replace them w/o stock parts.
My question is has anyone replaced the seals on their 15+ year old Trailmanor? Can you still get parts or do newer seals fit this camper? Any advice or info that can help us decide whether it is worth buying and fixing or if we're in for a major headache is greatly appreciated! BTW, they dropped the price to $4900

from what i can see..it looks like the bag seals..you can call trailmanor. service or parts and get a price
i believe there are posts on replacing and or buying the material elsewhere
look for leaks. wood root. a 2000. trailer would be a wood frame. vs aluminum tubing
make sure it opens and close. easily
check the tire dot dates. etc

Seems to me those seals can be ordered from the Trailmanor factory and replaced by unscrewing the aluminum plates holding them.
There's a 3124ks for sale in Colorado Springs https://cosprings.craigslist.org/rvs/6006303575.html

Thank you, I called and left a message for the parts department. And the one in Springs is twice as much...Nicer, but still double! The seal beside the door is definitely the worst one. There are 2 or 3 other spots where the wood that the seals are connected to broke at a corner which don't look like they'd be too hard to fix. All in all, it's not bad for a 17 year old Trailmanor! There are marks on the inside and out where it has rubbed over the years going up and down, but I assume that's pretty normal. The only water marks I saw were on the curtains and only on the sides that open so that's where rain got in when they left windows open. The fridge doesn't look like it has even been used (still red tape holding drawer to a shelf!) and there did not appear to be any plumbing leaks. Wheels are 15" and all 3 tires will be replaced and included in the $5000 price as is the top to bottom inspection by their service department. It needs some TLC but seems like a fair deal.

Maybe you'll get a free breakfast. (Yes, that's an "in" joke, adapted from Robert Heinlein.)

Any suggestions for alternative material to the vinyl and foam bag seals? Are there rubber seals that might work? After reading through the 88 rebuild thread and figuring out that these don't come premade to size, I figure there's got to be something else that will work that is a little easier to install w/o tearing too much of the camper up. Or even alternative materials/ fabrics that I might be able to source more locally. The prices I saw suggested by some folks of $6+/ foot seems excessive for something I essentially have to make myself once I get the materials...
