A question for you aerobed users - on our 2619 the berths are only 48" wide and we've never seen an aerobed in that width. In consequence we use a half inch of closed cell foam (which we can leave on) under the mattress and also two Therm-A-Rests (which we have to inflate/deflate but do a great job of cushioning the television on the floor when traveling). Has anyone found an aerobed to fit a 48" berth? - Camp2Canoe

Camp2,

I went to the Aerobed site, and unfortunately they don't make a 48 inch bed. They come in a twin of 39 inches, a full of 54 inches and a queen of 60 inches. The 39 most likely would be too narrow. Maybe some other brand? There seems to be a number of companies making these things now.

Interesting thread...we just finished our first TM journey and realize something must be done with the bed. Everything else was fabulous, even with 5 people (including 2 & 4 year olds) in our 2720 SL! A Google search found Aerobeds readily available. Can the Aerobed be used on top of the TM foam mattress? Seems like the additional insulation provided might be useful. If so, what problems would this cause, if any? Thanks.

If I remember correctly the original mattress is 4 inches. The Aerobed is 9 inches. This in itself would be awkward crawling into the bed. Also you are getting up there such that you might not be able to close the rear section even with the bed deflated. We have moved the pump end of the bed around to the opposite side from the overhead light. There is enough clearance that way.
We are now using a old blanket under the Aerobed for insulation (and the squeak factor). We do have a old one inch foam pad that we might try later when the weather gets colder.
