The crank-up batwing antenna (that's the Winegard with the 12-volt amplifier) does not receive AM radio frequencies. It is intended to receive VHF/UHF TV, and since the FM band is in there somewhere, it might receive those. I say "might", because that I think they are filtered out so as not to interfere with the TV signals.
The proper antenna for AM/FM use is the one black one. Depending on the year of manufacture of your TM, it is either a collapsible rod mounted on the left rear sidewall, or the thing with the red light mounted on the rear edge of the front shell. In either case, the end of the cable is in the bundle above the refrigerator.
