Default Rear roof trim worn

Not sure what it is called, but it is the steel or aluminum trim along the bottom corner of the roofs, in this case , the rear roof. The white coating on mine is wearing away in about a 1 foot section. (see pics).
I have no trouble opening or closing either front or rear roof. All 4 corner aluminum latches are easy to engage.
I have no idea as to why it is abrading and once corrected, is there something to re-coat the trim. Thanks.

It looks nothing more than where the front section's pillow rests and they do get a black ugly color, easily (?) removed with a Mr. Clean eraser and nearly any spray cleaner. You will need to clean the pillows once or twice a year and lubricate them with silicone spray, though some say not to the factory does. m There are a lots of comments in the cleaning section of the web, here is one of many links: http://www.trailmanorowners.com/foru...light=silicone

I can deal with the black on the side wall. Magic eraser does the job. I am concerned about the rubbing on the bottom trim. If you look closely at my second pic. you can see the white coating(paint?) has rubbed off exposing shiny metal.

I guess it's not that apparent in the photo, but the trim paint has rubbed off and that foot long shiny line is exposed metal.

My Bad-- thought it was the ole black gunk but now see it is shiny. Is your TM level when you put up or down, is the roof catywampus (sorry for the high tech term) or is your pillow getting stiff and not giving way as it passes this. Those are my GUESSES.

Well I have been leveling after I put it up, not before. The roof seems fine. The pillow on the front roof (just aft of the door)that folds over this area
seems fine. I have it open after a trip and doing some cleaning. I will be closing it tomorrow and pay particular attention to that area. I bought this last July and may not have noticed this at that time.Could have been the previous owners problem which was fixed by him. I could paint the area and see if it rubs out again, but what kind of paint?
Thanks for your replies!!

The "shiny metal" is aluminum, of course, which can be hard to paint. Be sure you get a paint that specifically says "aluminum", and follow the prep directions closely. Then, be sure to let the new paint dry and cure for at least as long as it says on the can - more is better - before closing the TM again.

I have the same issue. There are places on the rear shell where the front one touches it when they are down in travel position that have been worn right to the metal. I did not have this problem the first year I had the trailer but I only took it on five local trips of a few hundred miles out and back then. This year I just completed a 61-day, 8,100 mile trip and that's when the worn spots appeared. I believe it is from road vibration and not from the shells rubbing on each other when going up and down. I do want to repaint the worn spots, though. Mine are all just an inch or so long.

Well, I decided to try something I had in the house. I used Rust-Oleum gloss white appliance epoxy, followed directions. 3 coats, let it sit for 24 hrs and it appeared rock hard and was an exact color match. Only problem may be that instructions say for INDOOR metal surfaces. We'll seeeee. Just returned from 2200 mile trip to FL, NC and back to St. Louis. Next trip probably not until October.
