Wash bed coverings and dinette cushion covers

Can you wash the bed covers and dinette cushion covers in a washing machine? Are they easy to get off and on? Or should I have them steam cleaned?

I steam cleaned mine because it appeared to me that the covers were pretty snug, I put them in the hot Texas sun and they smell great!

Thanks, I've tried to wash cushion covers before and have had a hard time getting them back on. I'll steam clean them.

We washed the cushion covers when we got ours and we hung them out to dry. Had no problem getting them back on. We didn't wash the mattress covers though.

For the curtains, the best advice seems to be to wash them but do not dry them. Drying seems to shrink them, so instead, re-hang them while they are still damp from the washer.

For mattress and couch covers, the same advice might be to take them damp from the washer, immediately re-stuff them, and then set them out to dry.

Because we will be buying a fairly older TM (like 15 years), I am thinking about submerging the dinette cushions in my heavily chlorinated pool and then baking them in the sun to dry. Has anyone every completely washed cushions like that or does that sound crazy? Will most likely replace the mattresses, but may go this route with them anyway to see what happens. Planning to recover the cushions as well.

I've tried similar before, except I had the cushion laid out on a tarp and soaked it with a hose. Used a little detergent too and squeezed washed it, followed by a long period of soaking and more squeezing to get it rinsed. Even then it is still quite heavy until it dries.

Hand wash in bathtub, or the biggest machine at a laundromat, air dry. But its a lot work getting the foam back in. Folding the foam almost in half and then releasing once in the case, is what we found worked best.

I washed in the washing machine and hung outside to dry. The vinyl on the bottom of the matress covers still have a bad odor, not sure what is up with that. Maybe my nose is too sensitive.

A trick for getting cushion covers back on is to place the foam in a plastic bag with the closed bottom of the bag place where the cushion zipper will be. Once the cushion is pulled tightly on, pull the plastic bag out, and zip the cushion up. This may be a great benefit if you're putting wet covers on the foam. Just leave the plastic bag on until the cushions dry, then pull them out.
