Silly question
We will soon be venturing out with our gently used 2004, 3326K. My question is when I call to make reservations and they ask me is it a Pop-up or trailer? and how long is it? What do I answer? 33' or 26'?
Thanks in advance,
Jimmy B.

I would tell them it's a trailer - to tell them it's a pop up is just too confusing. Give them the open length, as they need to be about to put you on a site large enough to extend the camper, so 33.

33. Size when open. I answer "popup" altho come to think about it "trailer" is probably more correct. So I would say "33 trailer" in your case.

I say popup and normally give closed length ... I think the footprint on the ground is what they are looking for.
If you truly did own a regular popup.. you wouldn't give the open length of that would you?

I've always just said pop-up. In my areas, the tents and pop-up campers are closer to the water whether it be lake or river. That's my preference and generally get electric and water.

JBYRNE7844, I always give the open size, which in my case would be 27, as I have a 2720. You wouldn't want them to put you on to tight of a site and then couldn't open up. As for as what to call it, our dealer said to just say it's a travel trailer, as you are fully self contained. We have never had a problem, have gone cross country once and thinking about doing it again, just be ready for a lot of people watching what you are doing. Happy camping.

I have to disagree with this. Campgrounds need to know the overall length of any trailer, and whether or not the unit has slides on any side. Overall length is a factor when campsites are adjacent to others behind them. Trees and other obstructions may also limit the trailer length in a given site.
It also tells the campground the length needed to park your vehicle on the site, since rarely do they want vehicles parked on the road.

I think is depends on the campsite. In some cases pop-ups may get assigned more wooded sites (aka desirable ) vs an open pad. In others pop-ups may be assigned smaller sites that will not work for the TM. Also be aware that in areas with dangerous wildlife, pop-ups (aka soft side campers) may not be allowed during some times of the year. In northern regions where campsites may partially close during winter months, pop-ups may not be allowed as they are presumed not to be self contained. This may also apply to some primitive federal areas.

OPEN LENGTH & TRAVEL TRAILER
This will give you the room you are required to have when fully set up, and to get your vehicle in the site with you. Most campgrounds are now set-up to use electronic reservations (e.g. www.rec.gov), and these site lengths are actually figured from the parking block to 4-5 ft. from the loop road. So if you want a site with more room, simply add about 5 ft, and you'll be able to see which sites are longer. Also, some campgrounds don't allow any tent material on campers (due to bear issues), and to say pop-up sometimes only confuses this issue.
I've always said 27 (as I have a 2720), and travel trailer, and I've never heard any complaints. Above all, remember we are camping, and to not sweat the little things.
