Default Suggestions in Nashville Area

Anyone have any suggestions for a campground in or near the Nashville Area? Trying to avoid the parking lot type of settings. Like to find someplace with some tree and shaded. We usually stay in national/state parks. Thanks for the Help!

Default Nashville area camping

We have stayed to the Poole Knobs several times. It is nice a few miles southeast of Nashville, but, the restrooms are up a steep hill and no sewer. Here is a link to it:

A couple of other places east of nash,
there is fall creek falls st park, it is a large state resort park , cabins, golf course. Pool, lake, boat rental, etc. But in summer , resv. Would be a good idea, near it a smaller state park cumberland mtn. S.p. This is all south of crossville tn,
now north of same exit is big south fork n.p. About an hr off i.40 it is the newest n.p. In the country, it is very nice ,clean, new and quiet!

Any other suggestions? Have found a park just west of Nashville called Seven Points State Park. Looks promising.

We stayed in Cedars of Lebanon state park and it was nice. Pictures in this blog post if you scroll down.

Well, it's a bird picture, probably not too helpful. I was thinking of the park near Memphis which was also nice.

another update: in this post http://www.trailmanorowners.com/foru...37&postcount=5 a member says the Cedars of Lebanon park is now run down. We were there in 2005.

Try Nashville shores, its on Priestly lake and has a water park attached. Boat rental is reasonable. just north of nashville about 3 miles form interstate.

We have never been to Seven Points, but FYI, it is a Corp of Engineers campsite, not a state park. If you stay there, post about it as we are always looking for good campgrounds in Tennessee.

We stayed at Cumberland Mountain SP near Crossville a few weeks ago and it is a nice park. We drove to Nashville one day and it is about 1 hr 45 minutes away. Fall Creek Falls may be a little closer. Natchez Trace SP is about an hour west of Nashville, but have not camped there. Land Between the Lakes has some nice campgrounds as well. If you camp in the lower end of the lakes it is about an hour or so from Nashville. We drove through Piney Campgrounds last fall and want to go there. It is on the southern edge of Kentucky Lake. It looked very nice and well kept. Rates are reasonable. Here is a link to it:
