pulling in snow

Thinking of leaving northern ohio in late january for the south,,, what are the ups and downs of pulling a TM if it happens to be snowing etc when i depart or return.
I will have a few days either way so i can avoid any big storms etc

If the roads are snowy/icy/slippery, I do NOT recommend moving. You do not have fine-grain control of the TM brakes, and if the TM wheels lock up, you can be in dangerous trouble in a flash. If you can stay home, do so. If you are on the road when the snow begins, find a campground and settle in until the roads are grippy again. It really helps to have some kind of campground guide - paper or electronic - in the car.

Years ago, my wife and I found ourselves in exactly this situation in Pennsylvania Dutch country. As it turned out, it was four days before the roads were grippy again (meaning the pavement was bare, wet, and sanded). So we just settled the TM into a comfy campground, and used our 4WD truck to enjoy Lancaster County. Much better than jack-knifing the trailer and sliding into a ditch - or an oncoming truck.

We plan to leave in mid march.....and there may well be snow here in northern Michigan.......all pretty iffy. I like Bill's answer......just wait. There is a discussion on the Trailmanor Fans Facebook page on TM'ing on snowy roads, fyi. He says just go slow and easy.

It will also be a challenge to pack up in the snow.....I think we'll plan to leave before we need to (earlier than our first reserved spots), which may give us time to delay for weather. If we can leave early, we'll just go to extra places on the way.

kinda funny story along those lines, couple yrs back,we pulled out of here after 8 inch of snow and got down into south car. pulled into croft state park , was still 4 or 5 inch of snow on the tm, was to hvy to lift , had to clean snow off before could sit up. had not thought about that part,

We did it one time coming back from FL for spring break where an unexpected snow storm came up. Much younger and more foolish. 200+ miles of slow, white knuckles, and slow traveling.

Only thing I would recommend; don't do it! But if you have to do it, leave lots of room between you and whatever is ahead of you, brake slowly, and travel slowly. Also readjust your brake controler for less force. Trailer brakes locking up, you do not want.
