I don't know. As far as I know the motor on ours is original from 2002.

I don't know for sure why this would happen - it has not happened to us. But the first thought would be that there is supposed to be a seal of some kind below the motor. Its purpose would be to prevent water from the tank from splashing or misting up into the motor area, during flushing or during travel. A parts diagram of the toilet might show such a seal, if it exists.

I do recall that the entire motor is enclosed in a tightly fitting black rubber sleeve. If that sleeve is missing or ripped or otherwise does not seal well, the motor will exposed to a salty mist, which will corrode it.

You might check both possibilities.

Probably the case. We got one of the last 2013 campers before they shut down and found a number of interesting problems. This is the third motor that we will have to replace and it is very difficult to find one. If I can get the specs on the original, I may be able to match it with a fairly cheap replacement.

I don't think you can blame TM closing down for this one. TM simply installs the Thetford. I'd suggest Thetford messed up and didn't seal the motor properly?

Well still searching for a replacement motor but with a little WD40 got the old one to work. But it’s not long for this world. Have sent email to thetford but last time said I had to buy the whole pump assembly ...about 250 bucks. I may invest a little money and buy a few of the cheap Chinese motors and find the model that works! I will let the forum which one works.
