2720SL 2009 front bed function

My wife and I have owned and used Trail-manor 2619 for years, we're now looking at a private owner sale of a 2009 2720 SL to gain an extra foot in the sleeping area, - this is a 2720 SL with the front slide out and a couch with 2 small tables on each side.
One of the issues is how does the front couch in a slide-out turn into a bed? We pulled on the front of the seat and it came forward but there was no support for it, and the rear cushion didn't follow it down, and when we took it down and put it in place it fell into the storage area. There was no evidence of any support bars or whatever? The seller did not know...

Can anyone here explain how it works, and what mechanism should be in place? Pictures of the supports or mechanism would help greatly, this is one of 2 issues keeping me from the purchase.

To set the sofa up as a small bed, lift the front edge of the seat up a few inches then pull forward until the side rails lock into the armrest rails. Next lift up the bottom of the seat back and pull it forward then lay it down into the empty space. The back of the seat back has an angled piece that fits on top of the armrest rails while the top, back part rests on two (or 3) vertical pieces of wood. The attached thumbnails should help understanding the above.
