Moved Battery disconnect switch
My TM came with a Battery disconnect switch I am sure the previous owner installed. Anyway it was in the rear compartment with the battery it was not really a problem except if you wanted to disconnect the battery you had to raise the complete unit up and open as I have a 2720SD . Plus I now put up a carport and I can not open the unit up behind my gate now because the height of the carport so I pulled it out of the drive and moved the switch into the bumper storage area. Works great there, I can just undo the rear travel latches and then remove the plastic bumper cover and have access to the switch.
Last pic is where the Batt disc. sw was before relocating.

Indeed, Funny thing I forgot to connect my battery tender harness while I had it pulled out and opened up. LOL oh well another day.

Hi Craig,
Your work in the battery compartment is neat and looks efficient.
I too have a 2720 SD, and although I don't have plans to "go solar", I'm curious about the battery shut off switch. Who is it made by and, other than the obvious, what is it for?
I'm also planning to install a Battery Tender since I have used them on my motorcycle. Do you have plans on where you are going to route the cables for the Battery Tender since the compartment is inaccessible when the TM is closed?
Thanks in advance for your reply,
Neil

There are some good suggestions in several threads that discuss connecting the Battery Tender through the Bargman. See, for example, the later posts in this thread.
http://www.trailmanorowners.com/foru...ad.php?t=16026
The advantage, of course, is that the Bargman is always accessible.
There are other threads, which can be uncovered by a search on "tender".

Craigrr- Just to "settle" a previous discussion in another thread, is the shutoff on the positive or negative side of the battery?

Hi Neil,
Thanks, it is a Blue Sea marine disconnect switch. This disconnects the battery from the circuit to eliminate battery drain from Phantom loads, such as stereo, ant, lp/carbon monoxide detector. etc...
I had the battery tender hooked up before and I had it in the bumper storage area as it was easy to access when closed, I drilled a hole through the rear compartment floor directly above the bumper storage area left side.
I have this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-POSITION-B...hUBemk&vxp=mtr
I have it relocated to the frame under the bumper cover held in place with 3M VHB tape
Hope that helps.
Craig

BTW, if you have a float charger or battery tender connected during the winter, if you have wet batteries, check the water level often.
Just checked my GC2s and while the plates were still wet, it is a good thing I buy distilled water by the gallon.
For disconnects I can disconnect batteries, solar, and coach charge independently. I used an AC disconnect box which provides a place for 100A CB (inverter) and two 30A CB (coach and solar). Since DC I did not open the ground line. The float circuit in the bumper is not shown but has a 7A fuse.

Thanks folks. Craig, I appreciate your "above and beyond" info, even tracking down the disconnect switch. I'll look into using the Bargman with the Battery Tender. Thanks Bill. And Padgett, can you name the brand and model you used. It may be well beyond my skill level, but I could show it to a mechanic and he/she may be able to duplicate your set up.
I love having a few choices on how I will keep the TM charged and ready to camp!
