Thetford toilet not charging
I purchased a 2009 2720 in the last summer of last year. It took me a few trips to get the hang of everything. It was also my first trailer. I purchased it new at a dealership in 'as is' condition and got to test most everything. I got it for a great price and have been pleased with its performance.
Everything turned out to be in working order except for the outdoor shower head (I think there is a leak in the line) and the Thetford toilet. I followed the directions, poured in a gallon of water and deodorant that was recommended here on this site. But when I would push the charge/flush button it would make a sound like "eeeeeeee" but it wouldn't charge. The guage on the right did not move like it was supposed to. I checked and it looked wired in properly.
I called Thetford and described the problem and the girl basically said I need to take it to a Thetford approved dealership. Before I go through the hassle of taking it somewhere and opening it up for them to look at it, I thought I would post here to see if anyone has run into this same problem.

After making sure the gate valve at the base is closed I fill mine with water (and chemical) until the indicator on the gauge is between the green and white.

I believe it requires nearly three gallons to charge. Could it be that you just don't have enough in it to circulate?

Yup. Not enough water. I fill until I can move water. Don't pay much attention to the gauge until it starts getting towards the full

I have a two gallon bucket, fill it once, then to a half gal mark. Don't pay any attention to the gauge it doesn't work most of the time. Add the chemicals first before adding water.

Thanks everyone!
So how do I know when it is "charged" then?
Will it make a flush sound instead of the 'eeeeeee' buzz?

You will hear water flowing and if the lid is up, see it flowing.

Thetford Charge Indicator
There's an indicator on the toilet. It has a green bar toward the beginning of the markings. You fill the toilet until the it's in the green and you'll know it's charged.
