2720SL Question

From looking at the floorplans for a 2720SL, it would appear that the floor in the expanded area is on the same level as the main floor (kitchen). I have been in several models of TM but not the SL. Can someone explain how the floor can be on the same level as the kitchen if the expandible portion pulls UP and out?

After opening the upper front shell, the slide area which houses the sofa, pulls out. There is a slight difference of about 1.5 inches in height. There is a rubber seal which runs across the slideout creating an elevated lip (hope I describe this right, if not, other slide owners pls jump in).  

For us the slideout works great giving us a nice living area. We did get rid of that ugly blue chair (which really opened up the area) and are looking for a smaller swivel replacement.  If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
