Default Should the TM stay plugged in to shore power all the time?

Hi all,

After spending a good amount of time searching old topics, I'm up in the air as to whether I should always leave the trailer plugged in when I can or whether I should leave it unplugged with the fuse off and the battery pulled. I got the impression from my reading that the newer trailers (mine's a 2009) won't cook your battery if you're always plugged in, and that to leave the battery hooked up without the trailer being plugged in is worse because of parasitic drains...

Advice/Suggestions welcome and appreciated!

Thanks,
John

My 2005 is plugged in more often than it is not.

Since April 2005, I have added water once to each of the two batteries.

To keep it ready to go (during the season) I installed this. I have found that by using this, batteries last much longer.

Mine is in a storage with no electricity available. To reduce battery drain, I have a on/off switch in line from the battery positive. Just before closing the TM, I turn the battery off. Not as good as having a "tender", but it helps.

In the winter I hook mine up for one weekend (24-48 hours) a month depending on how cold it is here in PA. Otherwise I just use my electrical (dealer installed) cut off switch. In the summer I use it enough to keep the battery charged. So far so good-about 3 years.
I also installed a Clipper battery monitor which I like very much.
