Default Proper 30 AMP Electrical Outlet at House for TM

Is this basic box fine for my 3124 TM?

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Connectic...ric+CESMPS13HR

It does not have a GFCI and not sure if I need it. Is there a better model someone might recommend?

That will work, but here's a couple of things to consider.

You need 10 gauge wire (for the hot and neutral) coming from your house distribution box to your 30 amp outlet. Don't let someone just connect it to a 20 (12 gauge) or 15 (14 gauge) amp existing circuit. If you don't have a dedicated 30 amp circuit for this outlet, I strongly recommend that you have an outlet box that includes a 30 amp circuit breaker in the box. That's a good idea even if you DO have a dedicated circuit, or at least a power switch there. It's not good to plug your TM in to a "hot" outlet. It's better to plug into an outlet that's off, and then flip the switch.

Here's a great youtube for box installation:

I'll search for a better box, and post it here.

Here's an example of a box with a breaker.

I'm sure there are other places you can find one.

That is just an outlet box, how are you planning to get 30A of protected power to it ?

BTW the TM is ungrounded so a GFCI would need a reference.

(Mine is fine on a 20A circuit with #10 wire, AC pulls 11-12A when running (start surge is more but does not pop a 20A breaker, which leaves enough for at least one other big thing)

As I have openly admitted here, I have no skills in stuff like this. I have a neighbor who is a licensed electrician who will do the install. I will show him the video and this thread. So, could you please describe what you mean by 30AMP of protected power? Does that mean I just need to get a box with the GFCI? I have 400 AMP service in my home so not worried about the electrician putting in a 30 AMP circuit in my second panel.

I also found this pdf on another post here.

OK circuit is only as strong as weakest leg. That said the 30A RV plug is a standard (other one is a 50A). I have had several trailers/RVs with 30A plugs but never had one that really needed more than 20. As mentioned at home in the grotto when open, I run the TM on a 100ft #10 extension cord, plugged into a 20A socket with #10 wire to a 20A breaker another 45 feet away (about 50 feet of wire).

Nothin pops or gets warm even with the AC on.

Now I am sure that there are some behemouths charging banks of GC2s and with dual air and full kitchens that need the 50A. I've never had one. For my "mobile guest rooms", 20A breakers have been pleanty. YMMV.

ps I follow the NEC just usually increase wire sizes by one and all copper. Thutty yar ago when had the house built, I paid $200 extra for all copper wiring.

I had one of these outlets installed in my garage with a dedicated circuit and breaker in the main box. It's really nice to have, you will not regret it.

So to do this right, would this be the better way to go?

Nice but something designed to go outside. What I would use if I ran something permanent out to the grotto.
