Default Corner jacks question

In my owner's manual it says to "extend the lower leg with the jack handle in the rear hole" I can't find a jack handle - can I use something else. Also, I'm not sure where this rear hole is. On a side note, what happened to the technical forums? I can't see them this morning? Thanks

It sounds like you have the old style stabilizer jacks & not the scissor jacks, am I correct? The jack handle for ours was in the rear hatch area, it's a silver rod about 10" long and about 1/2" in diameter. You could use something else but the end that you insert into the rear hole must be cut straight down at the end (like a really long, skinny, right circular cylinder).

You insert the pole into the front jack hole and kind of feel around towards the back, moving it up and down until it catches in the rear hole. Then you press back and down (mostly down) until you engage the rear hole, and this will snug up your jacks to the ground.

As to why you can't see the technical forums, are you still a trial member? You can be a trial member for 30 days and access all the forums, after that you need to pay $12 to join the Trailmanor Owners Forum (not the Trailblazers Club, unless you want to do that too, of course!). Checking your forum "member since" date, it appears that it's been 30 days since your registration.

Happy Camping!

I couldn't find the actual handle anywhere but I made a new one and figured out how to work the jacks. Thanks B&D.

I never knew that we could snug up our jacks until another board member told me how to do it.

He also told me that the TV antenna could be rotated in addition to being raised and lowered.

Thank goodness for the TM board!

I find those type jacks to be a PITA....... that's why no one uses them any more. Check these out:

We almost replaced ours with those, but they weigh a lot more. The main disadvantage to the older style jacks, for us, has been that in an uneven campsite, you can't always lower them down. We talked about getting an adjustable jack stand to use for the corner (there's usually just one). On the other hand, they (the scissor jacks) can be used when changing a tire, to raise up the TM, from what I've read. We have to use a series of jacks & blocks under the frame.

The old style jacks also getting kind of hard to find, not everyone carries them.

Thanks for moving this to the frame section. I couldn't find it when I first posted because I wasn't a member.

It seems that the old style jacks work just fine to stabilize my light 2518. I just had to learn how to work them. The manual wasn't very descriptive. But, thanks to B and D, they work fine now!
