Default Lean-to

Just finished my project to build a 20'x15'x7' lean-to off the side of my horse barn to store the TM out of the weather.

Used the John Deere tractor to level the ground on the side of the barn. Installed railroad ties to prevent erosion by the existing barn foundation.

Dug 6 holes with the post hole digger. Installed treated 4x4s and filled holes with pea gravel. Installed 2x10 ledger board on the side of the barn; used (2) 2x6s for the top plate. Used 2x8s for rafters 16"o.c; slope 2" per foot. Installed roof purlins 2.5'-3' o.c.

Installed siding & trim and painted. Installed roof - used Tuftex Polycarbonate white panel.

Parked the TM inside for the winter....done!

Looks very nice, I'm so jealous, as I wish I still worked on the farm and space was not such a premium!

Very nice job, ours was easier though. Had Carolina Carports install a 18'X20" for us to park the boat and TM under.

I looked at 20'x'15'x7' carports. To fully enclose 3 sides and certify it for snow loads made my lean-to more cost effective.

Going to be interesting to see how the Tuftex Polycarbonate roof panels hold up long term. Never used that product before nor directly known someone who has.

I also went with Carolina carports. Due to size limitations in our community storage lot I went with a 12x 24 with extended side panels.
