Default Azela Glen RV Park, Trinidad, California

Azela Glen RV Park adjoins Patrick's Point State Park, which offers walks through the redwoods to the beach, and is near Prarie Woods State Park which offers the famous Fern Canyon. It's a nice base for visiting the North Coast and the redwoods. The area was used to film Star Wars planet Endor and the Jurassic Park Lost World. Here's a 360 degree photosphere of the Fern Canyon, click on the photo and it will allow you to pan around it with your mouse. Valerie and Stanley my 6'3" 16-year-old are in the photo. Valerie asked to come back to this spot every year.

5 or 6 spaces at Azela Glen adjoin a lake with otters, and offer a nice platform for lounging. The bathroom/shower was surgically clean, the staff was very nice and helpful.

All of the thumbnail photos were taken from our space in Azela Glen.

The area is prone to the Northern California coastal fog, but it got sunny one day. Be prepared for chilly weather.

Beautiful!

Were you under some cloaking device? I see that your shoes weren't covered!

My wife and I visited this area several years ago in our TM. This whole part of the coast is fantastic - explore as much as you can.

We spent a couple days in Trinidad, including a "fabulous" quilt shop. A bit north of there, my wife got up real early, climbed into a boat with a guide, went out into the Klamath River, and brought home a huge salmon. Warning - salmon smells really bad when your refrigerator fails.

In Crescent City, we went out to Battery Point Lighthouse - accessible only at low tide. Guess what? We found that an ancestor of mine had been the lightkeeper for many years, starting in 1875. Knowing that, the staff insisted on giving us a "full tour" of the light station, and of course by the time it was done, we had missed the tide and couldn't walk back to the mainland. So we drank coffee, listened to some more stories - there are a lot of interesting ones - and they gave us a ride back in a small boat.

This whole area is fascinating. You will love it!

Bill

Right out of Harry Potter, isn't it? This is taken with the Google Nexus 6P phone, not any fancy camera. In sphere mode, it puts dots in the viewfinder where it needs a photo to stitch into a sphere, and you just pan the camera around slowly until you've hit all of the dots. It does the stitching right in the phone, in the background after you've taken the photo. So, this was all hand-held and took about a minute, and I only ever pointed it at myself when aiming straight down.

If you download the photo, you can use it with a 3D viewer and the Google Cardboard app.

Here's a shot of a tall redwood near Azela Glenn. The big rock is Patrick's Point. The panorama is from Oregon Caves National Park (we stayed in Lake Selmak County Park and were glad to have the air conditioner) and Valerie and Stanley are in the center in the 1920's coffee shop at Oregon Caves.

Thanks for mentioning the Nexus 6. My wife has one of those. Just last night I tried out the sphere mode and, by golly, it works!

Anyone with an Android phone should be able to take photo sphere pictures, just download the cardboard camera app.
