Moderator Bill,

Since you asked for opinions, I hafta put my $.02 worth here. I think you are making great calls. If it is something that might benefit our forum members, and doesn't keep repeating as mulitiple posts, then letting it ride to see what happens seems to be a good decision. I know when Dennis 1st started with his screen door thread, several members considered that spam, but just look at how it has benefited many of us. I know these are tough calls, but no complaints here.

Appreciate you wanting to know the opinions of others.

Chap

Hi all,
Remember that most of these are automated BOTS that go through various websites and post. We went through this big time last year, and got it solved, but they advance, and we need to do the same. We keep an eye on these, and if it gets "BIG", then I will make changes. It's important to remember that changing things to defeat the BOTS will also make it more difficult for new registrants and sometimes all of you. I try to balance the needs of that vs the demands that the scummy spammers use.

It is impressive, all the same, that their spamming tricks still work, and people fall for the ploys that they use. Do yourself a favor: get good protection and don't open or click on things from folks that you don't know...unless you're looking for watches or something else!
Hope all is well. God Bless and keep your eyes open!
Ct..

Sorry what rock am I under? I don't know or see spammers. How do they show up. And some folks talk about upgrading? Upgrading what and how.
Thanks.

Probably stepping into Bill's territory, but

Because of the excellent diligence of the Site monitors like Bill, spammers are usually deleted within hours. Essentially they sign in as new trial members to allow them to post, then they post a commercial ad not relating to TM ie cheap cell phones from Asia. I belong to many forums and I can easily say this is the most professionally run one anywhere. Good TM info and discussions and NO SPAM. I believe the comments on upgrading are directed to trial members ( free) who lose some of their access after the trial period. They are encouraged to upgrade to a site sponsor for the $12.00 annual fee. Without the fee, the site would be plagued with ads for all kinds of stuff and be less appealing/ useful.
