Shane, yeah I almost opened that splice/rats next, but opted not to. I did cut the extra wire for both, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't causing issues. Thanks for the feed back.

I cleaned up all those splices. Most were held together with wire nuts but some were just twisted and taped. I used butt connectors and heat shrink wrap to secure any connections I could find.

I’ll be the first person after manufacturer to tinker with this light. I plan to keep it as clean and tidy as possible.

I did the install, swapped the screens for new ones that didn't have holes in them, and put in the remotes. Worked perfectly...for about a month. Then one remote failed, but in the "ON" position, which is good. I have the switch installed for both, so I can just manually turn that one on/off, and use the remote by the door for the other.
Ideal? No. But I'm too lazy to rewire the busted one right now. I'd strongly recommend installing the included switches, for two reasons: one, my case. And two, even before the remote burned out, the two fixtures would get out of sync, where one was on and the other off. The only way to fix that was to manually turn one off and "flip" the other -- I have my switches wired in between power and remote, so it worked.
Overall, a significant improvement to the stock lighting.

Where did you get the screens from?

One down, one to go
Well, first thanks for the input with my questions. I installed one and still have the second one to install, which I plan to tackle tomorrow. On my first attempt, I watched the youtube video and got myself totally screwed up this past weekend. I watched again, but paused it and wrote my own directions on the connection points. All of my AF electrical buddies would laugh at me for having to do that, but it works and I am happy.
