Default Ortona South east of Fort Myers, FLA

Stayed here this past weekend. It is only 30 or so miles from home and is located in the center of the state. It is on a nice lock between the Caloosahatchee River and Lake Okeechobee. Campground was meticulous. Showers and restrooms were immaculate. Grounds were perfect. Many shady sites and none more than 100' from the river. A short walk to a footbridge across the locks allows you to view boat and manatees pass through the locks. Very quiet and friendly. Pets were welcomed, although our lab dwarfed many of the ankle biters but he minded his manners. Not a whole lot to do other than the locks but on one side was the river and the other a huge pasture with cattle. Very quiet and relaxing.
