The Westpro WH2400i probably. I did not test a completely stock unit, only one with a SPP6 "Hard Start" cap (about $12) since my start cap failed but the 2000 was pretty reliable so the 2400 should not have an issue but I am sold on the soft-start devices. Everything is less stressed and then can leave in ECO mode.

That's a good point, I'll make it a point to check

Thx Padgett. I think I'm going to need a generator by next summer. The rest of my trips this year I either have elec hookup or will be in cooler weather. So, the Westpro 2400 is now on my "list of things for the TM".

Default Is There a "For Dummies" Version?

Cindy, thanks for the excellent questions!
Padgett, Can you elaborate any on the the "soft start device?" Brand, where to get it, how/where to install? <But then, I need even more help.>

I think I should get batteries first - before I start to consider a generator, or solar (if ever).

Our TM (2006 2720SL, new to us 3/16) appears equipped for two batteries in tandem. Two (empty) plastic cases, lots of loose wires. We have two trickle chargers we could hook up between trips if the on-board inverter(?) will not maintain the batteries when on shore power. It would be nice to pack some items in the (shore powered, yet switched to battery) cold fridge, fold up, unplug when ready to go, and have the batteries keep fridge cold until we hook up at site. No dry camping - yet. State parks (4) so far with electric on site and shared water. We are packing all cold food/beverages in coolers w/ice.

I have read a lot here (bless this forum) and I still have no clue what batteries I should be looking at - or how to maintain them properly. I would like to be able to run the AC with a generator in the future - I have made a note to check out Westpro WH2400i and a "soft start device." First things first, batteries. -Dirk

Don't buy new batteries until you figure out if your setup puts them in series or parallel! If you take some photos of the wires, we should be able to tell you.

fnkypogo, in case you start looking for the Westinghouse WH2400i generators, here's a link to AP Electric. I went ahead and ordered two of them and parallel cable. I figured if I have 4800 watts I'm probably good for whatever regardless of altitude...

You can also find single WH2400i on their website as well as other brands.

Thanks Cindy and Bruce,
I will get some pictures of the battery wiring over the weekend and post here. Really appreciate the assistance! -Dirk

Does seem like a good price. Was about the same on Amazon but jumped $300 recently. Suppliers seem to be having difficulty keeping in stock.

On the last trip I just took the one 2400 and everything worked fine. Do have a parallel cable - turn out you can also parallel the 2000 (one I used last year) and the 2400 together for 4600 surge / 3900 continuous - will run my 15.1kbtu test AC with no mods.

For me was more a matter of just one fits in the rear storage compartment so pursued other means.

Looks kind of small. I used 10ga for the coach connections and #2 for the inverter.
