Talked to the Trailmanor people and the gluing of a new skin over the damaged one will not work. More rapid heating and cooling of the new outer skin (the old skin is partially insulated by the epoxy) will quickly cause the skins to separate. Their repair would involve removing the entire panel, removing windows, trim etc., then removing the outer damaged skin, pressing on a new skin and reinstall. Cost close to $2000.

In the insurance companies eye, one must include shipping to and from Trailmanor thus bringing the cost close to $4000, as a rough estimate. Consequently, the trailor was determined a total loss.

Well if one could get it at the right price, take it to Nebraska (and it was going to be 2k for sure). And while it was there have a factory tuneup. Tires , wheel bearings Etc. you would have 3k. Plus travel (twice). So. You would have to get it pretty cheap to make it worth while

Or just paint and ignore it. If the skin is intact than function is not impaired.

Need to find your state's response to a salvage title though.

The deal appears to have fallen apart. I called the owner yesterday with some of the questions raised in this thread, my estimate of value, etc. He was to call back after he arrived home yesterday evening to check his weekend schedule. This was to set up an appointment for a thorough examination of the trailer - no return call.

Jim,

I applaud your due diligence to inform yourself of the condition and possibly repair of the TM. This process has educated yourself and others here. It's probably wise this unit doesn't come your way. Could have been a nightmare of unknown issues.

There'll be other units that will come along in much better shape.

Good luck,

RV

Thanks RV. Always wanted to learn to ride a motorcycle (still mountain bike at 68). The Suzuki and the Royal Enfield you owned were 2 that always intrigued me due to their simplicity and utility.
