Default A/C for '98 -2619

We recently bought an older 2619 to stay in when i go to dog shows. Before purchasing we had thought that we could install roof a/c. AC very important since for the dogs in summer. The console A/C didnt work hardly at all. After being told at several RB dealers that there wouldnt be a way to install roof A/C. I searched you tube for alternatives. We ended up tearing out the cabinets over the front bed and my husband installed a 12,000 BTU Pioneer A/C minisplit( air with heat pump) air handler in that void, we bought flexible hoses and he mounted a bracket on rear bumper for the compressor. I took on first trip last week and in 90 heat and humidity and it kept the inside so cold I had to turn the temp up. Worked better that all the fancy roof air that the expensive motor homes had and is quiet as a mouse. Has heat option too. Best part is take low wattage so should be able to run with a 1500 watt generator.

Nice solution. Good for you (and hubby).

I'm not sure what you are referring to as "the console A/C". Can you clarify?

Thanks

Bill

I assume they mean the side AC, it's from that era.

Some pictures of your installation would be really neat.

Yes, I second the request for pictures! I don't think anyone has ever installed an AC unit in the cabinet-area above the front bed. And the compressor was in the rear of the unit? Wow, we would really love to see lots of photos! Sounds innovative.

Yes, please post pictures. I'm looking for an A/C install for my TM that didn't come with A/C.
