When I found the TM factory website, I became interested in TMs. I found a one year old model on an non-TM dealers lot. I bought it and then discovered this forum. I learned a lot from it.
As my knowledge and skill grew, I began to freely and cheerfully help others, mostly newbies. I am certain that because of me, there are many happy TMers out there today.
There was a time when the question was asked "Why is there so much porn on this site?" The moderators, INCLUDING ME were already at work on this. We, INCLUDING ME have permanently banned posters with names like !PHARMACY, angypussy, BestFilms, viagraxx, DealXXX and many others. We finally got it stopped. Very few on this forum knew this.
Then we've had hackers, which we, INCLUDING ME, stopped. Some kept coming back, but now they're also history. Again, very few on this forum knew this.
We had one young salesman from a TM dealer post who boasted that his posts were none of our business and we couldn't do anything about it.
He too is now gone. Very few on this forum knew this.
It is hard for most to realize what a good forum this was, without commercial ads and sales types posting and pming. But without good moderation, I can assure you it would be a total mess.
And now we have seen what can happen without good moderation.
At one time, you could look at my profile and see where I had over 3.100 posts since November, 2002. Now there are only 7 left. I've removed all the others.

Now Bill has chosen to close some threads and go running to Chris.

I'll make it easy for you Bill.

I'll let you have it all. You won't have to pm me again and tell me not to start a thread on the joys of child rape. I don't know where you got that from. You know (or should know after all the years we've worked together) better.

So when you do contact Chris, just tell him you can run this forum all by yourself. At one time we had 4 moderators, then it dwindled down to 2.
Now you've got it all by yourself. I QUIT AS MODERATOR AND WILL NEVER LOG ONTO THIS FORUM AGAIN.

I may keep my TM or I may sell it, who knows. But whatever rig I have, I will continue to fly the flag and display my sign "Texas_Camper". You can't take that away from me.

So if you do see me somewhere on the road or in a campground, my advice would be to just keep on trucking.

And to all of the 2,542 members who read this forum I leave you the forum to post as you see fit.

I too have remove my sigs, and pix of us some weeks back. I am braking my promise of never posting again on Bill's forum. This should be my last. Bill offered to send back my dues, but I refused the offer.

I'd humbly suggest that everyone let go of their need to be right --- and to make someone else wrong. "Right" is something that is constantly in flux. I recognize, in myself, that today I might feel one way --- and tomorrow --- I might feel entirely different. This makes me less inclined to be attached to a particular position. I certainly hope that YOU are more important to me --- than being "right". You know --- just before we take our last breath in this life --- I can almost guarantee that none of us will say, "I wish that I had been right more often, or I wish that I had been able to convince others that I'm right". We're much more apt to say, "I wish I would have loved a little more completely, a little more unconditionally, a little more without the expectation of being crowned Most Right". My fellow TMer's --- I'd much rather listen to my heart --- than my head --- in these kind of matters. I hope you do, too ! Peace, Eric

Default Everything changes...

Being a moderator is a thankless job.

Like most successful organizations there are few hard working volunteers that make it fun to participate. I'm sure most of us have seen this before, and many of us have lead groups and worked our tails off until we finally made somebody mad and decided it wasn't worth the effort any more.

TC, I thank you for all your work and wish you the best. You are the second moderator to leave since I joined this board (Rocky Mtn Ray was the other). If I remember correctly it was after one member objected to some of his comments also. So sorry this has to happen from time to time, but everything changes...

Hopefully this board can continue with the same level of help and cooperation that has me reading it every day for many years to come.

And Bill, please don't you throw in the towel too. We all value what the moderators do, a lot more than it appears sometimes.

Keith

For the longest time, Leon was arguably the single biggest reason to want to participate in the TMO forum. His insight, knowledge, and willingness to share it here was a reason to be here. However, something began to change with him about 4-5 months ago. Don't have any idea what it was, but when you look at his legacy of posts, for the first several years he was patient and helpful, no matter how dopey some of our posts were. That is no longer true.

For the past several months it's run the gamut from inpatient, through inactive, to scathing sarcasm, and now finally complete withdrawl, including erasing all of his posts. For whatever reason, he lost his passion for moderating on this forum. The moderator job is hard enough when you're really into it. Impossible if you're not. I will miss his wisdom and experience, but evidently, he needed to go.

I totally agree with you Jon. I don't know what happened to him but I'm sorry it did. Hopefully the forum will get back on track soon.
