Default Choctaw Lake, Ackerman, MS

21 site USFS CG. Very large sites but nothing between sites. Site 9 in loop A is the most isolated. Loop A is first come first serve. Loop B is reservable.
Bath house is huge with a single handicap toilet on the mens side. The men's side you sit about a foot and half off the floor. Womens side has 3 flush toilets, one of which is handicap. Single shower on each side and very large. These showers are push button and almost impossible to operate if you have arthritis. Everything gets wet because the spray has such force, it will almost knock you down. Although not scalding they are comfortable warm. Bath house could stand a cleaning but could be a left over from the weekend.

To get here from the Natchez Trace take LA 9, just north of Jeff Busby CG, and follow signs through Ackerman. Entrance is just past the district ranger station. $20 per night or $13 with the golden age/interagency senior pass.

Over all a nice CG, to well groomed for our tastes but will stay here again.

Some additional information on
Choctaw lake; boating fishing and extensive hike and bike trails. They also have that freesbe golf thing.

Had a great time watching them get ready for the kids fishing tourney this weekend. They released some nice cat fish.
