Default Yet Another Fridge ??

Just back from our 3700 mile trip and am wondering why, when operating the fridge on propane, it seems to go out for no reason? Did it to me twice. The first time it had been on thru the night, we went on a day excursion, came back and the needle was down at the bottom of the white. The second time, it had operated thru the day and went out while we were asleep. Could a gust of wind blow it out? Could the propane cylinder be getting low? We have been using the same cylinder since we got the unit and it has not "flipped" over to the 2nd 1 yet. (The cylinder sure does last a long time!!)

This may sound trival but make sure that you open the valve on the top of both tanks. The selector device will not "switch" if there is no pressure on the other line, so you could be at the end of the first tank and the second is not really available for use...

I don't know of anything else and I don't mean to offend by the above statement. Most people know to do that but well, I have to confess I have operationally checked this theory on my own...

Default me, too...

That is exactly what started the decline in my fridge that ended with it not working on propane at all. I still haven't gotten it fixed, yet, but I'm going to take it in to a shop this weekend and I'll let you know what I find out.

Last year, when my fridge was about 5 months old, it started to turn itself off on propane at random.

My dealer installed the repair kit identified in the Norcold Service bulletin, and the problem has not returned.

Bill, that's not offensive at all. Dumber things I have done but not this time.

I'll check with the dealer and see what he has to say.

Just got back from the dealer and he installed the new wires as per Norcold. Have the fridge running as we type and will let you know if this seems to be the fix.
We're going off for a long weekend next week so after that, I hope to know.

Thumbs up

Fridge has been running for 3 days solid and seems happy. Also had the propane tank FINALLY switched over to the other tank with no glitches. I still marvel at how long those tanks last. So, I am thinking the fix worked. HURRAY!!!!

Let me ask.

Do the newer 2006 2720 have the same problem with the fridge running on propane?

Travler -

The problem isn't totally unusual, I guess, but it is not common, either. Our '06 has been running for a year now, with no sign of the problem.

By the way, anyone know when TM changed over from the Dometic refrig (which I had in my '02) to the Norcold unit (which I have in my '06)?

What you really want to know is when did Norcold fix the problem and when did Trailmanor start installing the Norcolds that no longer have the problem.
