Default Can you take a TM through tunnels in the Hampton roads/norfolk area?

Wondering if there are limitations due to propane with going through the tunnels

The following:

What to do if you are traveling with hazardous materials

Motor homes traveling through tunnels must stop to have propane tanks checked before entering tunnels.

Hampton Roads Tunnels and Bridges

The way I read that, it appleis to motorhomes only. Travel trailers, tent campers, etc, are exempt.

Not so. Stop for inspection is required of any vehicle which has propane tanks(they usually just ask if your propane tank valves are closed but sometimes have you actually get out of your TV and physically confirm). Nearest problem area is Baltimore Maryland as they allow absolutely no propane through their tunnels (you have to use the ring roads to go around the city).

I have been through a few in that area and they required me to stop and confirm my tanks were off.

Yes, I've been through there recently on I-64 and the signs I believe say "camping trailers," not motorhomes. But, I'll also say, I went on through without stopping, not intentionally, but because I wasn't sure where the stop point was, my error.

Same happened to me last summer, my first time towing a trailer. I saw the signs, but it wasn't obvious where to stop and before I knew it I was in the tunnel. No-one came to hunt me down.
