Default Sedona in the winter

Wife and I are planning a two week TM trip to AZ if the weather cooperates. I know, it may sound crazy, but with my work schedule and the wife being a school teacher, the two week winter break is the only time we can do this. In the last few years, we have been to Key West, interior/colonial Mexico, Cabo San Lucas in Baja and Los Angeles to include San Diego. Can't go north or east from Houston, so maybe west to AZ. We don't mind a little cold, just not wet and cold. We carry a cruiser motorcycle and plan day trips from a central campground. Any opinions would be appreciated. thanks,

rv

thanks Scottie. I have seen that website. Good information. I am also looking for real world experiences from members that have used the area and can comment on traditional weather patterns in the area. thanks,

Here is a link you may enjoy, http://www.weather.com/weather/wxcli...graph/USAZ0209

I have never camped in Sedona but that is on our list. My wife retires the middle of Jan. so this is one place we will go too. We have been to Sedona in the summer and it is great. Our high here in the valley today is 57 degrees, got the furnace on. People think we are HOT all the time, NO! AZ. has four seasons. But no snow in the valley

Have fun!!!

thanks. as mentioned, we can bundle up for the cold temps, and the furnace in the TM is very good, in fact, too good sometimes.... The iffy part is whether we want to carry the motorcycle 3000 miles round trip and not be able to utilize it for day trips.

Default Sedona in Winter

Disclaimer: I have not been to Sedona at year's end....

BUT, I think that no one can predict reliably what the weather will be THIS YEAR for those two weeks at 5000 feet. We all have to use 'averages' and history and then we can be dead wrong. I live in Colorado and in the past have played tennis outdoors at Christmas and also have been buried under 3 feet of snow. Go figure.

As you probably already know, the average high Dec/Jan is around 58 and average low is around freezing. Average precip is 1.8". It is raining and snowing there right now. At the end of the day I think only you and your wife can determine whether it is worth the effort to take your cycle into that kind of terrain at that time of the year.

Have fun whatever you decide. The one given is that it is 'drop dead' beautiful there no matter what time of the year.

thanks Rick. We will go regardless. The MC may not go, but the TV and TM will go.

Default Sedona at Christmas

This sounds like a very fun trip. I have only been there in June. My wife and I really loved it and it was beautiful. Please let us know what happens and how it turns out.

Have you considered just renting one if you have a good weather?

bing search: "motorcycle rental arizona" some results:

http://www.azride.com/ "from $89/day Scottsdale"

http://www.eaglerider.com/ " pick=up cities: Sedona/Flagstaff/Scottsdale/Phoenix"

http://www.azsportbikerentals.com/ " NorthPhoenix"

http://arizonamotorcyclerental.com/ " Tucson"
