Default A quick Hello from a newbie in NC

Hi,
Just wanted to introduce ourselves as my wife and I picked up a used 2007 2720SL in very nice shape 2 weeks ago and took it on its maiden voyage to Myrtle Beach last week. All went well but the weather was atypical...windy and never got much past the mid-50s and got down to near freezing at night. Had plenty of opportunity to use the furnace and it does put out the heat! Which brings me to a question...are all the fans on these furnaces that noisy? When that baby kicks in it is surprising how loud it is. Anyone figure out a safe way to decrease the noise level?

Thanks,

Welcome from Knoxville, TN!

You are absolutely correct, the furnace does put out the heat AND it is very noisy. Jere cannot sleep with the furnace running. We have purchased a portable heater that we run when it gets cold at night. In addition, we have electric blankets. Otherwise we could not camp when nights get cold!

From reading about this on the forum it doesn't seem there is a solution to the fan being so loud. You could probably type "furnace fan" into the search box and read up on it, but is what I seem to recall.

Enjoy your TM!

They are noisy, as is the air conditioning. I suspect many owners use less noisy heat sources when they can.

I moved to Florida so I hear the furnace less!

Small ceramic heater(s). We have several of them. When returning to the TM from an outing during the winter, we turn on both the onboard furnace and the ceramic heater, when it gets warm, we turn off the onboard furnace and continue with the ceramic heater on a low setting.

Welcome to the board!

The built in heater has the major advantage of being a huge heat producer. Along with that is the noise you have experienced. Most find it easier to heat with alternate sources and use the TM heater only when it gets really cold. I can't remember the last time we used ours. The TM unit is really good to knock the chill off when returning in the evening or getting up in the morning.

Welcome, Tim!
As a new owner myself, I am interested to hear how loud the heater is. Our first outing is in about a month. Always used the heater in our Coleman Bayside, and never found the noise that objectionable, but I really hate to be cold and night and we usually dry camp. They look to be about the same type of heater, so I am curious to hear it.
