awning adjustment question

Sorry if this has been asked, I searched and couldn't find an answer to this specific question

In cranking out the awning, it is not releasing on the end where the crank is. The other end seems to come out freely, but I have to climb up on a stool and manually pull the awning out from the 'storage' box on the sticky end. Anyone else have to deal with this & if so, what was your solution?

I bought my trailer used a couple months ago (love it BTW). And originally, the awning was stuck like that & the other end wouldn't close all the way (almost an inch gap). I have solved the problem with it closing in some of the old threads here, but haven't found how to fix the problem with it 'sticking' in the box on one end.

Sounds like the end cap may need to be replaced. The problem may be the red locking tab or the interior of the moulded end cap I've replaced one so far and have a spare for the other end when needed. Order from Fiamma. May be a model F45.

Yep (F45 plus)
I contacted them...they suggest lubricating all joints on the arms (and where they connect to the 'box') and maybe toying with the top adjustment screw on both arms.

I may need to contact you later about what's involved in replacing that end cap

What did they suggest as a lube?

I was going to suggest silicone spray...anything else more useful?

That's exactly what they recommended. Also said it should be done every 6 months or so.

In my case, it takes enough effort to free it by hand, I'm not too positive this will help-but it's sure worth a try

Same here. Except on mine the crank end is free. I crank it out a little bit then take the hook end of the crank stick and "hook" the other end out. It pops out easy.

Haven't tried anything other than that.

ROTFL-as Homer Simpson would say "DOH!", I overlooked the obvious

Actually, I've been meaning to get some silicone spray for the window sliders, and will give that a try too.

Silicone spray, WD-40 and duct tape. The trinity of trailer maintenance/repair!
