Question Smokey Mountain NP???

Where is the best place to stay near the Smokey Mountains NP, Blue ridge Parkway and Ashville NC. that are NOT on or near any (major) highway especially interstates. What attractions did you explore in the area and what are the good sites to see. We are planning a trip this September and need some information. Would like a campground with full hookups that is quiet with reasonable rates.
Thanks
Tom ....who wonders

Or

Those all meet the requirements for quiet and away from highways.

I can help you but I'm a little perplexed as to where you want to be, it's 70 miles from asheville to the park. Campgrounds that i know near or around Asheville are Bear Creek Campground, Lake Powhatan Campground, MaMa Gerties Hideaway(Swannanoa NC).

Most campgrounds in the park do not have full hookup, all have showers and flush toliets but no electric. You'll find very few places on the NC side of the park and Tenn. side with tranquil surroundings. If your main intent is to visit the Park I would pick a campground near Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, at that time of the year all kids are back in school so things in most campgrounds aren't so loud and festive.

SMNP is the most visited (10,000,000+) of all the national parks. However, September is between the summer and fall foliage seasons. Cades Cove is my favorite part of the park.
