Default So much better than Rocky Mountain National Park

Peaceful Valley and Camp Dick are within 1/2 hour of RMNP and are so, so much nicer. They are above Lyons and are within a mile of one another. The Middle St. Vrain runs through them. They are much more private, waaaay less CRAZY. I can give you advice on sites that might be good for your needs. They are open much later this year than in the past (11/25) because they have been told they have to give hunters a place to camp . . . not they're going to be hunting in the campground . . . I think they are just trying to discourage dispersed camping. Checking the road conditions, weather forecast, etc. obviously a MUST!

No hookups, no dump station, vault toilets, no showers, not the best looking water that you have to PUMP at Peaceful Valley and can't hook a hose to at Camp Dick, however, if you come prepared, absolutely lovely

Did you need reservations? Website says they fill by Friday morning. Some sites look pretty close together, but others look somewhat isolated. Is it worth the fee?

During the summer, I would not show up there without reservations. We stopped by on a Friday morning once, on our way home from a different spot and couldn't get in. Holidays, forget it! What they call a meadow, I would call barren . . . But the good sites are really good. After this weekend, the fee is $17, half that if you are old. It's walk-up only now until they close for the season.
