Default climbing on the roof

As a part of inspecting a TM for purchase, or for general service of vents or AC, how does someone stand, sit or crawl on the roof?
In other words, where can the roof bear weight?
Thanks in advance.

Put out pieces of plywood, maybe 2 X 2 - or big squares of heavy carpet - to spread your weight. I've been all over the roof that way.

I have been wondering the same thing. Thanks for the post NORCALKID. Should the TM be open or closed? Or will it support your weight in either position?

I just replaced the outer bag seal , I weigh about 275-280 held no problems, I first put down a movers blanket then about a 2' wide by 7' long sheet of plywood I had. the shell I was on was closed. I dont think I would go up on the shell if it were open , you would have too much side to side movement for the torsion arms in my opinion. Plus I dont see why it would need to be open , as I did the seal, I had the front opened and the back closed , if you needed to work on the front shell, I would think it being closed would be better anyway.

I did replace by riser fore the fantastic vent fan, which is on the front half, I had to open and close the shell to chk it but that is easily done.
