Default Part numbers for center hold down latches?

Hello all,

My once-repaired center hold-down latch broke again. Easy repair, but I got nervous about what would happen if the moveable part hadn't been retained by the spring. So I am seeking to buy a couple of latches from TM.

Exactly WHO and HOW to buy these in these uncertain times is another question, but I think with y'alls help I can answer WHAT.

Are 40004 and 40005 the correct part numbers? Unfortunately the catalog does not have illustrations for these parts. They are listed as Lower Spring Latch L (R) Painted w/Boot which sounds right. But confirmation would be nice.

Thanks,

Bill,

I checked the TM parts catalog and found what I think are the latches you described. Part numbers 21023 and 21024 See attached doc.

Looks correct to me. I don't know if they come with springs but you
will need them though you can probably get them at an auto parts store or hardware store.

Thanks for the reply! Those pictures you sent look correct. I wonder what the "lower spring latch with boot" is???

I emailed the factory and they said I could order the parts from there. I'm going to give it a shot.

Bill,

Please let me know how it goes with your order from TrailManor. I tried to buy white lift arm pocket covers (#24048) from The Car Show, and they told me they couldn't get them either, and suggested I call TrailManor. I haven't yet done so, but I'd be interested in hearing how your experience with ordering parts from the dealer goes.

After about 10 days and a reminder email from me, I have heard nothing back from the factory in regards to my parts order. *sigh*

I made my parts order over the phone to the factory, and received it in about two weeks, less than a month ago. I got the two center top-shell latches, shower curtains with track guides, and the center latches.

On my 2004 3023, the passenger-side center latch for the front shell got loose and tore out the holes on the shell lift rod it's attached to, before I acquired the trailer. The shell bounces in motion despite replaced bolts, washers and lockwashers, etc. To fix that, I'm cutting the lift rod back past the existing holes for the latch, and attaching a piece of steel 2" angle stock to the 4 bolts for the torsion bar, carefully, while the shell is up. That will go in front of the latch over the slots in it, and a small steel plate will go in back of the latch. There will be multiple holes in both steel pieces to position the latch so that it can't slide along the slots.

Obviously this requires a drill press, something to cut the steel (I use a fiber disk on the steel stock and a hacksaw and file on the lift bar in situ) and careful measurement.

I've not heard of anyone else who has disconnected the torsion bar from the shell lift bar with the shell up. Obviously I will position something to support the shell. I don't know how much remaining tension there is once it's vertical, and am aproaching this part of the project with caution. I am avoiding replacement of the lift rod, as that's an even bigger project.

Regarding ordering parts, I decided I needed to go ahead and get new bag seal materials while I still had the chance. I saw a couple mentions on here about calling the factory directly for parts, but first I thought I would try calling the dealer here in GA, Crown RV. The lady told me they no longer sold TrailManor and she looked up the number of some other dealer (Buddy Greg?).

At that point I called the TN number off the TM site and got a recording to contact the NE location. Tried a couple times but no answer and I didn't leave a message yet. Will give an update if I find out anything more about ordering parts.

I really need to talk to them first because they list 3 different widths for the bag seal fabric (4.25, 6.25, 7.25) and I need to know which is correct for my 3023.

I ordered two of the front shell hold down brackets ( bracket with steel srap) from the factory a couple of weeks ago with no problem except they waited a few days to call me back to say they only come in black now.

I had a problem with the street side bracket and had to install some nut rivets for the two screws, come to find out it was my fault, When closing the bracket doesn't line up with the catching mechanism and the rear shell panel has to be pushed in a little bit while latching. Just finished a fishing trip to Ark and MO of 2000 miles with no problems with the bracket.
