Default Antenna Crank Stiffness - Maintenance

I'd not tried the Wingard crank antenna since we purchased the 2720SL a few years ago and when I did, it was very stiff. I was afraid the crank handle would snap, so I decided to take it apart and lubricate it. It made an incredible difference and did not take more than 30 minutes. The place needing most lubricant was the shaft attached to the handle which could only be lubricated by pulling it out first.

See attached link for an excellent video another author posted on how to disassemble and lubricate with silicone spray.

Hope this is helpful for others.

Keep in mind that the antenna on the roof folds, so there are points where the antenna rotates. Dry lubricant spray on those points will also help and prevent wear.

The rubber boot where the antenna cable enters the roof has been a water leak point on both of our trailers. I lift the boot and push silicone caulk into the entry hole around the cable. A bit more inside the boot before pushing it back into place helps to seat the boot and add waterproofing.

Great video Panamapat-good find. I rarely use my antenna, but did recently and my handle broke. Very timely!

The "key" to using the antenna is to assure that the small allen screw is securely snug inside the handle.
