Wall frame
Does anyone know where the wall framing is located in the walls? Before I attach something to the wall, I need to know that I will hit something solid and not just thin aluminum skin.
Thanks for any help
Walt

Walt, what are you looking at hanging from the wall?

I need to hang curtains. My trailer was used and had no curtains or valences. Also the tracks for the shower curtains had been removed. I just wondered where the aluminum frame ran. Is there one around the window opening? Any in the ceiling?

Have you seen this thread?
http://www.trailmanorowners.com/foru...hlight=valance
I'm planning to do the same. I don't think valances will be so heavy as to pull the aluminum skin, especially if the valance hangs flush to the wall.
When I get around to doing mine, I'll post pictures of how I design the valance. My plan is to use fairly thin solid wood stock. I'm considering using rivets to secure the z-clips to the wall. Screws can pull and work loose, while rivets will clamp on both sides. I will try to use the existing holes for the original window track.
However, I had posted a question in a different thread wondering if some of the newer metal stud finders would work to find the aluminum frame members of the TM. I guess either no one has one, or no one has tried it. My 25 year old stud finder is useless.

There's also this option for the Windows.

If my memory is working correctly, someone here used command hooks to hang curtain rods and curtains. They we're easy to put on and take off.

I tried to use a fairly new stud finder and had no luck. It would be nice to know where the framing is.

Thanks for the info on newer stud finders Paul. So now I still don't have any reason to upgrade my studfinder!

I'm not sure there are studs in the wall running up and down. I have always been under the impression there is no framing except around the premier. The walls are rigged from the wall lamination process and the large roof/wall corner aluminum beam stiffen it front to back??

That would also be my assumption. From the photos shown of the earlier factory days, the TM doesn't have stud walls.
To the OP, measure the thickness of the wall, and use a wall hanger that has an anchor.

RVCycleGuy, that anchor would be going into soft styrofoam and would end up making a void in the foam while it expands, and then only holding to the aluminum skin.
The shell is an aluminum-styrofoam-aluminum sandwich. The floor has really thin plywood added to the sandwich. Framing only at the edges and corners. You need a sheet metal screw, and if you have so much weight that it will pull out that screw, don't hang it. You can strip the hole if you turn your screwdriver too hard.
