Default LBL, KY/TN 22 miles east of Paducah KY

Land Between the Lakes, LBL. has many very nice CG's from back country no amenities to full hook up 400 plus sites. Stop at the visitor center at US 68 and The Trace or either visitor information center at the north/south entrances of LBL on The Trace. There are also three ACOE CG's that abut LBL. For ACOE we liked Canal and Hurricane. Eureka was closed for the season so we couldn't check it out. If you like primitive, picnic table, firering and vault toilet then maybe Nickell Branch at the north end or Redd Bluff south of US 68. These take a back country permit from the visitor centers; they were 7 bucks for three days when we were there. The next level up will have water and is self registration of CG host collects the camping fee. Full hook ups are Hillman Ferry in KY and Piney CG in TN. Both are on KY lake. Use the on line reservation for the last two to save a little. Water and dump stations at all three visitor/information centers. There is plenty to do and see here. Almost forgot Engery CG, it is smaller the Hillman and Piney but gives you elec, water, some sewer, plus showers. Of the three most developed we like this one best.

We stayed at the ACOE Canal two years ago. Very nice with elec and H2O hookups, clean showers.

The canal has gotten so popular it is hard to get into without reservations. We could only get in for two nights last fall.

well after 8 hrs on the road , pull down road to find the gate to Rushing Bay closed , called welcome to confirm, it has been closed,, ending up at Piney cg near the south entrance, was more like a large state park, 300 + sites, will post on it later, I can say it was not what I was looking for.

Is rushing bay the one you have to drive down the gravel road for a few miles?

Check out Boswell or Neville. Boswell is near you and Neville is on the east side.

no , it was paved all the way in , now Gatlin point is like that, that's is where we tried after talking to welcome center, they said it was about the same set-up. Well the winter was not kind to road, it was so muddy and rutted, I never thought I would ever have a tm somewhere where I had to put into 4 wheel. I was so pissed off that they sent me down a road like that . since I just washed after last snow and road salt outing

We went down a road like that to a CG at LBL. When we got to the CG we decided that we did not want to travel back and forth doing sightseeing everyday. So we ended up going to Chanel. We did not have much mud, mainly dust and large holes.
